  • testing... testing... it still works!!

Would you believe it ?!? Has it been that long since my last entry ?
welllll... since it still works... I will try to write more often...

We want to thank those that prayed for the camp's van... we repaired it (a long time ago) and we used it last summer for campers and staff, and it still works ... On top of the injection pump, we had to replace the whole computer (ouch!)

About our other blog entry... with the grass...
We bought a lawn mower and already cut the grass that we planted last spring. There is more work then we thought with keeping a sports field in shape! We still run into small rocks that we have to collect and because it did not rained much this spring, we had to water it many times.

    What's new? well... here's one...
    A ropes course!

Please pray God will see us through with this project. We think many will benefit from this collection of activities designed to make the campers work better with each other, to demonstrate their trust in others through a series of sequenced actions. I am sure some of you know what we are talking about, because you had this kind of "exercises" for team building, maybe with people from your work, your church, or your camp

I found a "smart" definition for you:
Ropes course programs can be designed to meet a number of educational, developmental, and recreational goals. It consists of a series of cables, ropes, and obstacles strung between trees or poles, 1 to 2 feet above the ground, to test the physical strength, stamina, agility, balance, and flexibility, and invite participants to confront such emotional issues as the fear of falling, the fear of failure, and the fear of losing control. Risk is managed by group members who assume critical spotting roles. Examples include: Swinging Balance Beam, Triangle Traverse, Tire Swings, and Mohawk Walk.

What's the same? Camps are the same and yet... each one is different then any before! This year we are going to have more youth then kids, with 8 groups coming from different parts of Romania

    Please pray for the camps!

A number of construction projects are still unfinished... God is doing some work in my heart about this... but I don't want to talk about it, otherwise I am never going to finish this entry in this. Please pray God will help us with construction...

Our family is doing well, I just thought I should mention that the kids are getting excited about the summer, and they want to assume more roles, all from a good heart and with a good perspective. Thank God with us for such kids!

    that's it for now...

the next time we will blog it will be about construction and people from wisconsin.. with pictures... so... less boring for readers

  • the camp's van really needs your prayer

     Please pray for our van!

After much deliberation on the mechanics part, they (finally) diagnosed the "illness" the van suffered from.. It is the fuel injection pump (an essential part.. so ... expensive too). New pumps are beyond our financial possibilities, so we looked for second hand ones... we are having a hard time locating one.. and they don't come cheap neither.

Please pray that we will find one ... so that we can use the van again

  • Alive and well

The camp with all what that means was awaken officially from the winter numbness. 1'st of May is traditionally a day when people "go out" to what they call "green grass" and enjoy time spent together, barbecueing anything ... really.

The youth from our church in Fagaras came out to the camp for "the First of May". It was a beautiful day and we all had a wonderful time. Out came the nets and the balls, music and laughter, food and friends. Chills came over us thinking of the summer camps ahead (and how much work still lays ahead).

For most of the youth that came, coming to the camp was like visiting grandparents. They served as counselors or workers, so they already "knew the ropes". They rejoyed seeing the work that was done in the fall-spring, re-telling stories and anticipating new ones very soon.

Daniela and I felt really blessed that day, and with gratitude, we ended the day in prayer thanking the Lord for brothers and sisters and the unity created by the Holy Spirit and for keeping us and the camp "alive and well"

  • We did our part ! (grass seeds are now in the ground)

We worked hard to clear the rocks from the soccer field, after we leveled the dirt that we brought. The purpose was to plant the much needed grass seeds.

The 70 dollars second hand electric rake   came in REALLY handy!

I remebered I learned a thing or two from our welder at the camp (brother Tudor), and I built this "cylinder" to compact the dirt. It's an air tank from an old train. We filled it with water and built a handle to it. Worked really well.

We managed to plant most of the grass... after that...  the rain came down... God thing!

We asked God to make our grass grow, and I was reminded of that verse in 1 Corinthians 3:8 where it says:

So neither he who plants, nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.

Hi Cristi and Daniela, It is great to see you on the web. Wish I were coming again this year, but my younger daugther is having her first baby when the Crossroads team is coming, so I will stay in NC this year. I hope to make it with either Scott's team or Mark's team next year. Lois Lindenfeld
